I've been considering the idea of setting up a web page with an IRC client Java applet. Instead of guiding users through the rather involved process of downloading a client program and using slash-commands to get onto #astahost, a member could simply direct them to a link to click to open this applet. This applet would then automatically connect the user to #astahost on DALnet. I've begun testing a Java IRC applet called PJIRC. This applet seems to be

New Irc Channel For This Board
Hi all, First of all thanks to szupie for the idea. We've a new irc channel for this board on Dal.Net - try joining any of the dalnet servers (irc.dal.net) and join the channel #AstaHost - it's up for a test run and we've had quite a few of the mods already visiting the place. Let's give it a shot for a few days and see if we can use this to help out in the Hosting Support Program... plus it'll act as a much faster alternative for the shoutbox. Flip side i

Hi, I know that IRC is not for newbies, but we all have to start somewhere right? Well, I read and read...and read even more. But I still have questions on my mind before I dive into the IRC world. I have used IRC Chat before, but don't call myself a regular user I was never a OP before so this is a first... If anyone can answer these questions to get me started, that would be great I apologize for the bunch of questions. I hope it's ok to ask these without getting a respon

#astahost @ Irc: New Additions (credits Listing)
Now there are several bots protecting the channels: #AstaHost, #Trap17 & #XisTo 1. Eggdrop bot: ReBeCa - owned & modded by me. 2. Windrop bot: NBot - owned & modded by Trekkie101 Trekkie has already listed what his bot can do. Here's what ReBeCa can do: ReBeCa responds to quite a few commands typed in the main channel window. All commands should be prefixed with a ! sign. Among these is a new module called Credits which displays your remaining h

I think that it'd be great if we make our own IRC channel on some network. We can just chat there and... yeah. irc.webchat.org is a good server we can put our channel in. Our users can still post their questions and answers on the board, but get some more faster additional help on IRC.

I left earlier because I felt we were not really going anywhere with the meeting, I also became utterly confused about who had the "talking stick". Anyhow, that is water under the bridge. When I returned (just now), I noticed only ReBeCa is in there with szupie as ops. I did a nick identify, but didn't get ops. Which is fine by me... if that's a general decision. But it did lead to a question from my side. Can we get a list of WHO had ops, and which type of ops (sop or aop -

I know I have been a bit absent after getting a ComputingHost account, but I am still a member here, ain't I? Well, been involved in a Drupal module development, and that got me into IRC. Then I remembered that AstaHost has a IRC channel at DalNet - #AstaHost. So, just logged in to check - is it only for mods here? Was wondering, if it was only for mods? Is it still alive?
